The Chennai Corporation Community College was started in the year 1999 as a joint initiative of Rotary Club of Madras East with Greater Chennai Corporation and Foundation for Vocational Training to further vocational & employment opportunities for underprivileged students.
in May 2018, we have setup a new Vocational Training Center at Thoraipakkam (behind Grundfos factory on OMR Road). It is founded on the principles of placing scarce resources within reach of the needy. Leased to us for 10 years starting 2016, the parties to the lease were drawn to the table by the messianic message of converting a profit making unit to a philanthropic one. The intent is to run courses that have the power to sustain themselves and stay relevant over a reasonably long time. The following vocational training courses have been started at this 6000 sft facility
- Plumbing – We have signed up with Kohler who will bring their expertise and run this program
- Tailoring – Indian Terrain will be our technical partner for this program
- BPO Services
- Finacial Services such as Tally
Kohler Plumbing Academy at Thoraipakkam
The above vocational programs will be coupled with a spoken English course and a Value Education program (Work Culture, Work Ethics, etc.,) so that these students will be better equipped to get gainful employment. It is our intention to benefit around 350 youngsters a year through this facility.
